Ms. Beggs
Born in Minnesota, and raised in Michigan I now truly feel like a "mid-westerner" as I currently call Chicago my home. This year is my second year teaching at Kenwood Academy where I am teaching 3 sections of Pre-Accelerated chemistry and 2 sections of College Bound Chemistry. As an undergraduate in college I earned a B.S. in Biology from Michigan State University, where I also earned a minor in Chemistry and the Michigan Integrated Science Endorsement. Currently, I am pursuing a M.S. degree from Michigan State University's College of Education.
A few "fun facts" about me: I played 4 years of horse polo for Michigan State University, I spent a summer studying Race Relations and the HIV/AIDS pandemic in South Africa, I have a step sister who has the same first name as me, and I've climbed an active volcano.
I'm really looking forward to working with my students, their families, and the faculty at Kenwood Academy this year. Let's make this a meaningful and productive school year! Go Broncos!

Ms. Ingham
My name is Leigha Ingham and I am a Chemistry teacher in the science department at Kenwood Academy. I have been teaching Chemistry for since the fall of 2008 at Kenwood Academy. I graduated form Spelman College with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2001 and from New York University with a M.A. in Science Education in 2008. Before I became a teacher I worked as a lab analyst at The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA. I’ve lived in a lot of places but I’m glad I can now call the city of Chicago my home, and I have no regrets about leaving my former job to become a teacher. I know that many people are afraid of a subject like Chemistry but my goal as an educator is for every student I teach to leave my classroom unafraid to ask critical questions, even if they don’t feel like they know everything about science. Having the ability to think critically is an amazing skill that can lead to many successes in life. I want my students to be successful, which is one of the main reasons I became an educator.
